Laurel and Hardy: A Bio-Bibliography By Wes D. Gehring Unlike many Laurel & Hardy biographies which come from a fan's point of view, this book approaches the subject in a very scholarly way. The basic biography frequently cites newspaper and journal articles. Several brief essays follow, including criticism from period sources. At its end is a rather unique essay on various books and other short reference materials which feature the boys. It reviews these sources fairly, although the author criticizes several fine works because they lack copious footnotes. Students writing about Laurel & Hardy may find this book especially helpful. |
