Film Locations

The Music Box Stairs The flight of stairs located at the intersection of Vendome and Del Monte streets, in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles, are perhaps the most popular Laurel & Hardy location. They were first seen in 1927 in the long lost film Hats Off, and again in 1932's Academy Award Winning film, The Music Box. While the stairs themselves remain exactly as they were seen in the film, a metal handrail and security lights have been added in recent years. There are no longer vacant lots alongside the stairs, and plants intrude on the walkway in places. But the cracks in the cement don't lie; they match the stills from 1932 exactly! The building across the street (where the boys park their delivery wagon) also remains identifiable. |
