The Sons of the Desert is the International Laurel & Hardy Society
Welcome to the Way Out West Tent home page! The name of our tent is taken from the
1937 feature staring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Since the film was set in the
fictional town of Brushwood Gulch, we have tried to recreate that place here in cyberspace.
The Way Out West Tent was founded in 1967 as the fifth chapter of the Sons of the Desert. Today, we are among one of the largest and most active tents
around. We meet in North Hollywood about six times a year, plus we have an annual
celebrity banquet. Because of our proximity to the stars, many of the great L&H celebrities have graced us with their presence at our meetings or
banquets. In 1980, we hosted the 2nd International Convention. Our members have
also been responsible for locating many of the original L&H film locations. For
more information, see our Frequently Asked Questions page. Here's what our site has to offer:
Gazette: Check out online editions of our newsletter, the Brushwood Gulch Gazette
